About
Stevens Media was founded in 1999 by Sam Stevens and is based in the beautiful Gulf Islands of British Columbia, Canada.
Originally a Montrealer, Sam developed a strong interest in computers in public school when he discovered the Apple II. As a child, Sam spent much time designing user interfaces—these were drawings of space ship dashboards that he used to travel to far away worlds. Knowing that the disorganized layout of controls could lead to interplanetary disaster, usability and efficient design became clear goals at the earliest stages of Sam's career development.
In high school, Sam developed a love of drawing and painting and although he found pure expression difficult, graphic design appealed to his sense of visual logic. Subsequently, he hand-designed posters, playbills, and large backdrops for several music groups and concert promoters in Kingston, Ontario.
After surviving the Ice Storm and relocating to British Columbia in 1998, Sam founded Stevens Media, a venture that fuses his artistic talents with his love of computers, and gives him the opportunity to live in the beautiful coastal community of Denman Island.
Sam's special interests include user-centric interface design, PHP security,
PPC marketing and multi-website network development.
Sam is an active blogger, maintaining web development, PPC marketing, baseball and Volkswagen Westfalia blogs. He also runs the popular phpdirectory.com website, and is the Founder and Managing Director of solutionsPHP, a Canadian open source web application forge.
