Code Igniter overlooked in MVC poll
International PHP Magazine is running a poll on their website right now about the best PHP MVC framework. What surprises me is that the editors left out Code Igniter! Admittedly, Code Igniter implements a loose MVC pattern that does not require Models. Perhaps this was the reason for the exclusion? CakePHP is running away with the poll and I suspect that even if CI was included Cake would still "take the cake", but at least the poll would be a little more balanced with reality.
Here is the full list of MVC top honors hopefuls: Ambivalence, WACT, Achievo, Phrame, Studs, Prado, PHPOnTrax, CakePHP, Mojavi, and Symfony.
There are other candidates here that have a right to fight for the MVC crown, particularly Mojavi and Symfony, but polls like this are mostly popularity contests, not a true evaluation of code quality. Framework popularity certainly has roots in code quality, but numerous other factors are involved, such as documentation, community support, learning curve, and module/component diversity.
