Introducing… Joomla!
The former development team for the Mambo content management system announced the new name for their new Mambo fork project last night: Joomla! I raised an eyebrow when I first saw this, but I'll give it a chance to grow on me. (I liked "Tango" better.) I'm not certain if the name is "Joomla!" or "Joomla"–they use both on the website.
One thing about the future development of this project that caught my eye is "that version 5.0 will be a complete redesign from the ground up but will only be supported on PHP 5 to take advantage of many enhancements to the language." That should please many PHPers, but will also leave alot of people out in the dark as only a small percentage of hosts have upgraded to PHP 5. Perhaps that scenario will be different by the time Joomla 5 is released.
