WordPress statistics plugins

I was sifting through an old development journal (yes, the old fashioned paper kind!) and came across some notes that I had planned to turn into a blog post comparing a handful of WordPress statistics plugins. It seems a rather moot point now since I've switched almost all my sites over to Google Analytics. Nevertheless, I'll jot down my notes here (which will allow me to tear out that page in my journal):

WP-Slimstat: This is a plugin based on Shaun Inman's Shortstat. At the time that I tested it, it didn't log hits from the Firefox browser. It did however have a very nice interface and was a snap to install. It doesn't look like it's been actively developed right now.

Counterize: While I liked the simplicity of early versions of this plugin the best (developed by Anders Holte Nielsen), the more recent releases have a better plugin architecture and are easier to install.

AXS and WordPress Integration Plugin: AXS Stats is a Perl stats package that I've long been a fan of. I quite like the "Sort all by visitor" in "Database Format" for getting an at-a-glance view of how users are moving through my websites. This plugin connects WordPress to your existing AXS installation–quite handy! Installation is a breeze.

Of course, there are a myriad of other options for tracking statistics on your WordPress sites. These are simply a few plugins that I have used in the past. For an extremely in-depth look at statistics plugins for WordPress, see Lorelle's post, Counting WordPress: Statistics WordPress Plugins. This post is also a year old now, but it's a good read anyway.
